VALENTIN TYPEFACE
Valentin is a display typeface designed as a concept for Beymen, combining a sense of heritage and luxury with a contemporary visual language. Rather than relying on traditional serifs to communicate refinement and prestige, I explored elongated, condensed letterforms to create a more modern interpretation of an established aesthetic.
The defining feature of Valentin is its set of contextual letterform variations. Certain letter combinations automatically change their proportions and positions to create a more balanced relationship between characters. For example, adjacent letters can shift vertically or nest into one another, allowing the typeface to maintain a more refined rhythm and spacing across different compositions.
Designed primarily as a display typeface, Valentin includes both uppercase and small-cap characters, giving it flexibility across different typographic applications. The project is presented through a promotional poster introducing the typeface and its distinctive typographic system.
